When I first started to develop my praitice in sleep medicine I was very grateful for the support I received from Cephalon UK Ltd. Through them I was able to attend the APSS meeting in Seattle in 2002 and the World Congress in Helsinki in 2003. They funded my travel, accommodation and conference expenses even though I was unlikely to use their product (Provigil [modafinil]).
As a medical adviser to Philips Respironics I have recieved finance to attend conferences and attended social events at those conferences funded by Philips Respironics.
Latterly all costs associated with attendance at sleep medicine conferences have been funded by my company OSA Risk Management Ltd.
It is mandatory that I advise Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust of all potential conflicts of interest and that has been done.
